SAKANA is a slice-of-life, romantic comedy (a sli-li-rom-com, if you will) that takes place in the Tsukiji Fish Market in Tokyo, Japan. If follows the lives of a few 20-somethings working at the market, their friends and family, and all the wacky situations they constantly find themselves in despite their best efforts. Basically they all want to date each other, but they're all terrible at it, and also there's lots of seafood involved.
THE COMIC is a free to read, strip-format webcomic, updating twice weekly every Tuesday and Thursday (usually around 9:30am, east coast USA time.) Unlike newspaper comic strips, Sakana is story-driven and each strip should be read in order. It's aimed at the teen and older crowd, and contains some swearing, sexual innuendo, and fish guts (they DO work in a fish market).
MAD RUPERT is the author of this webcomic, and has been publishing Sakana online since January 2010. Mad currently lives near Boston, Massachusetts with her partner, Gannon, and their dog, Gizmo. When Mad isn't drawing a million comic pages all the time, she enjoys spending time on farms, going to the gym, playing Minecraft, and petting dogs. Her favorite color is green, and she's less than 5 feet tall.
